About Josh
I’ve been a professional hand drummer for over 25 years, with deep roots in both classical Indian music and rhythm-based wellness. Since 2002, I’ve studied tabla at the Ali Akbar College of Music under the legendary Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, and I continue to honor that lineage in my teaching. I also bring a background in meditation and somatic awareness, having studied in multiple contemplative traditions. I’m currently a doctoral candidate in occupational therapy, where my work focuses on lifestyle medicine, nervous system regulation, and the therapeutic use of rhythm. Whether you’re a curious beginner, a kirtan enthusiast, or someone seeking rhythm for creative expression or inner calm—I’ll meet you where you are. My teaching style is encouraging, adaptable, and grounded in decades of lived experience. You’ll learn technique, timing, and musicality—but also how rhythm can support regulation, self-expression, and a deeper connection to yourself.

Are you curious about rhythm? I offer two distinct paths to explore drumming: Classical Tabla Lessons – For beginner to intermediate students interested in traditional Indian rhythm. I’ve studied at the Ali Akbar College of Music under tabla maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri since 2002, and I bring a patient, structured, lineage-based approach to learning this sacred art form. Hand Drumming for Wellness & Joy – Open to all levels and all hand drums. Whether you’re drawn to rhythm for kirtan, nervous system regulation, or creative expression, I’ll help you build confidence, timing, and flow in a way that nourishes your body and spirit.
