I founded and direct Scribendi Philly Editorial Consulting and Coaching. I've been helping writers succeed for more than fifteen years.
Scribendi is a Latin word that means insatiable urge. It’s the perfect name for my editorial consulting business.
For as long as I can remember, I've had an insatiable urge to write. I'm a storyteller with an abiding curiosity about language and one of my greatest pleasures is making words sing off the page. As a writing tutor and editor, I'll guide you in transforming your manuscript into a publishable work.
As a seasoned writing coach, I work with my students to identify their writing goals and guide them in developing the tools they need to achieve them. I closely read what they’ve ’written and find the best way to support them in overcoming their writing challenges. Many of my students quickly discover that my approach is highly individualized, since no two writers learn the same way. There’s nothing that excites me more than watching my students’ faces when they experience a precious ah-hah moment! moment! I also bring years of research writing experience as a qualitative researcher, so rigor is an important component of my coaching approach. Many of my clients tell me that my writing and teaching passion inspire them.
As an editor, I offer a range of services that start at .035 per word to help you get out of the muddle. Besides academic editing, I also offer developmental and line editing, partial and full manuscript editing, as well as copyediting and proofreading. For clients who seek assistance deepening their craft, I offer coaching services which start at 20$ and hour.
I bring an eagle eye, the discipline of persistent rewriting, and the skill of mindful listening and communication to my editing work. In fact, several of my clients have told me that what they like most about our editing and coaching work is that they always feel listened to and that they receive clear, incisive feedback.
