About Juniper
I have over 10 years of experience teaching chess to learners of different ages and backgrounds, supported by a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences. My academic training strengthened my appreciation for logical structures, patterns, and analytical thinking, all of which align naturally with chess. I enjoy helping students understand the deeper ideas behind the game rather than rushing toward results. Teaching chess allows me to support intellectual growth in a calm and meaningful way.
My teaching approach is patient, structured, and highly adaptive. I take time to understand how each learner thinks and processes information. Lessons are shaped around clarity and encouragement, ensuring students feel supported rather than overwhelmed. I believe confidence grows when learners understand why a move works, not just what to play.
Outside of teaching, I continue studying classic games, modern strategies, and instructional methods. This ongoing learning helps keep my lessons fresh and insightful. Guiding learners as they grow more confident, focused, and strategic through chess is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work.

My chess lessons are designed to help learners develop a deep and thoughtful understanding of the game, rather than relying on memorized moves or quick tricks. I focus on teaching core principles such as piece coordination, pawn structure, king safety, space control, and long-term planning. Lessons move at a steady and supportive pace, allowing learners to absorb ideas fully and apply them confidently. I encourage students to slow down, analyze positions carefully, and understand the reasoning behind every move. Chess becomes a mental training ground where patience, logic, and creativity work together. Each session builds clarity and confidence step by step, helping learners feel in control of their decisions.
Lessons are carefully adapted to the learner’s level and goals. Beginners start with board awareness, simple tactics, and basic opening ideas. Intermediate players strengthen calculation skills, positional judgment, and middlegame planning. Advanced learners work on endgame technique, deep analysis, and strategic evaluation. Every lesson includes guided practice, discussion, and reflection to reinforce learning. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, not failures.
Beyond the board, chess lessons help learners sharpen focus, manage pressure, and think ahead with confidence. These skills transfer naturally into academics and daily life. My goal is to help learners grow into calm, thoughtful players who trust their thinking and enjoy the strategic beauty of chess.
