About Wade
I hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and spent more than two decades teaching chemistry and biochemistry at the college level, most recently as a tenured professor at a small liberal arts university. During that time I also supervised a state-funded program that brought hands-on science into regional high school classrooms, which gave me direct experience working with secondary students in chemistry and the physical sciences.
I am based in Towson and available for remote sessions.

I have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and 20+ years experience teaching chemistry at the college level. I know these subjects well, and I know where students get stuck in them.
My approach is not lecture-and-memorize. Sessions are built around working through problems together, identifying where the gap is, and getting to actual understanding of the material. I use inquiry and guided problem-solving because that is what works. A student who can apply knowledge to an unfamiliar problem understands it. One who can only repeat it back does not, and that shows up on exams.
A typical session starts with whatever is giving you trouble, works through the underlying concept using your own coursework and textbook, and ends with a clear sense of what to practice before we meet again.
I teach toward the goal of students becoming self-sufficient. Tutoring should make itself less necessary over time, not more.
Who this is for: High school students in honors, AP, or IB chemistry and college students in general chemistry, organic chemistry, or biochemistry. Sessions are tailored to your specific course, textbook, and pace.
