• Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  I’m a native Vietnamese speaker, born and raised in Vietnam. Vietnamese is not only my mother tongue but also my passion. Over the years, I’ve discovered the beauty and depth of my language, and that’s why I decided to share it with people from all over the world.

• Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  I would choose President Hồ Chí Minh. He is not only a great leader in Vietnamese history but also a symbol of wisdom, simplicity, and love for the Vietnamese language. His poems and speeches reflect the soul of Vietnamese culture — gentle yet powerful.

• Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

  I love the word “Dạ” – it means “yes” but carries respect and politeness. Vietnamese culture values harmony, respect for elders, and kindness in communication, and this small word represents all of that beautifully.

• Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  Vietnamese connects people to my country’s heart — its stories, food, traditions, and warm people. Teaching it gives me joy because it helps my students not only speak the language but also feel Vietnam.

• What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  The biggest challenge for most learners is tones — Vietnamese has six tones, and one word can have different meanings depending on how it’s pronounced. The best way to overcome this is through listening and speaking with a native teacher regularly, combined with patience and practice.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  One of my students once told me she practiced tones by singing Vietnamese songs every morning. After a few months, her pronunciation became so natural that even local people were surprised! That experience reminded me that learning a language can be joyful and creative.

• How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  Traveling across Vietnam—from the North to the South—has helped me understand the different accents, dialects, and cultural expressions of each region. This knowledge helps me explain Vietnamese to my students in a more complete and interesting way.

• What makes you a Superprof in language?

  I’m patient, passionate, and always create lessons that are practical and fun. I use real-life situations, cultural topics, and personalized materials so every student feels confident using Vietnamese naturally. Seeing my students speak with pride and excitement is the best reward.
