About Shaun
Who am I? Key Stage 4 Science Progress leader, former STEM Co-ordinator, Qualified Teacher of Physics (PGCE), Personal Tutor, Mechanical Engineering (BEng) background with prior work experience in oil e& gas and construction. I am a fun-filled individual filled with lots of positive energy, who loves an exciting adventure. I come from a family of 5, all of whom are teachers and educators at different levels. Besides my passion for educating others, I am a thriving musician who loves playing the guitar in my free time and a keen sportsman, particularly in ultimate frisbee. I value the service of charity and as such, give back to my local community through the start-up and coaching of ultimate frisbee in my school as well as helping run music clubs with the students. During the holidays, I enjoy travelling and exploring new cities and cultures, with my most recent accomplishment in hiking Ben Nevis (the tallest mountain in UK). I aspire to visit at least 30 countries before turning 30 (currently at 13 countries).

Being a qualified teacher in a state-maintained school in London for the past 6 years+, I host a whole arsenal of teaching techniques, strategies and resources which are tried and tested on students from varying backgrounds and abilities, with an outstanding track record of students meeting and exceeding target grades, most of whom pursue degrees in Russell Group universities. Having graduated from two Russell Group universities myself, whilst also being an examiner of GCSE and A-level Physics from a top exam board, there is no doubt I encompass a strong and deep knowledge of the subjects that I teach to back my teaching methods. I continue to attend various courses to enhance my skill sets, and teaching pedagogies through programmes run by the Institute of Physics, Open University lectures and my most recent endeavour, which is the National Professional Qualification of Leading Teaching (NPQLT) by Ambition Institute. My field of expertise has led to me being assigned a role in my school, in which I lead on the development of curriculum and assessment in Physics and training of non-specialist Physics teachers. My methods of teaching are tailored to each individual, in a manner that starts with identifying learning gaps of the student and challenging areas of the curriculum through diagnostic tests. We will then use this data for goal setting and action planning with students and their parents collectively, after which, students will be taught in a way which helps them build their understanding of difficult concepts from strong foundations in bite-size pieces, practising active recall, all of which are then holistically applied to exam questions to further consolidate their understanding. As a sixth form personal tutor, teacher of Physics and the STEM Co-ordinator, I have also supported students in their journey to university - whether it is providing valuable feedback in tailoring UCAS personal statements, helping students discover which career or educational fields captivate them, guiding students in deciding on university choices, or even connecting students with professionals for work experience which they then use to boost their personal statements. My role isn’t simply to teach you, but also to empower you, especially when exam pressures are the greatest. Similarly, I will motivate you to apply similar techniques in all your other subjects to attain the highest grades. Other qualifications: -Mechanical Engineering with Honours (BEng) from Queen Mary University of London -Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in Physics and Maths from King’s College London -National Professional Qualification of Leading Teaching (NPQLT) by Ambition Institute -Fully DBS checked

He taught me A Level Physics and his lessons were always engaging and interesting. His teaching truly inspired me to continue to study Physics through to university and now I am a Physics undergrad at King’s College London. He is a passionate teacher and someone who really cares about his students and I couldn’t recommend him more.
Sir Shaun tutored me during my A-levels and currently I’m doing a Masters in mechanical engineering at QMUL. He is a passionate teacher with a deep subject knowledge in physics (which he taught me) and is the person who inspired me to pursue engineering. With his expert guidance and and excellent teaching skills, he provided me with a solid foundation in the field of physics where he broke down difficult physics concepts that I struggled with and made me enjoy learning the subject.
As a newly qualified teacher back then with no prior experience of teaching A Level Mathematics, I was able to build my understanding of Mechanics which is cross-linked with Physics through the help and support of Shaun. He was really able to break concepts down in a manner that not only helped me build my subject knowledge but also teach it effectively to my students. This really helped me in my NQT year and I now teach A Levels competently in a Grammar school.
Ex- colleague, Teacher of MathematicsI am a year 9 student and I am being tutored my Mr Lazaroo. He is dedicated, trustworthy and extremely helpful. He was the reason I decided to take triple science for my GCSEs. I find his methods very effective especially for chemistry and physics. He is able to break down complex formulas and concepts so that it was simple and easy to understand.
From not passing my a level physics mock exams to now studying physics in QMUL Mr Shaun helped me find a passion in the subject I didn't know I had. I thought I didn't like it because it was difficult but Mr Shaun simplified it and taught it in a way none of my other teachers or tutors could.
First hand experience of learning from Shaun, he is an excellent Physics tutor and really breaks concepts down in a way that relates to students so they can understand these complex things and effectively apply their knowledge on these subjects in their exams. Highly recommend him as a tutor , you will have the best experience of learning Physics from him!
Shaun always took the time to carefully explain any difficult concepts or go over any issues that I did not fully grasp, he provided a safe and encouraging learning environment where I felt that it was possible to consistently improve when it came to studying both GCSE science and A level physics with Shaun. He also took the time to provide past papers of a challenging level and explained each concept very well in great depth. I ended up getting an A in A level physics and a 9 in GCSE physics, biology and Chemistry due to Shaun’s help and could only credit him for making it an amazing learning experience where I was able to achieve the goals set out.
Shaun tutored me in GCSE science and provided a safe and open environment in which I felt comfortable to ask any questions when I was unsure and when I needed help. He was excellent in explaining key bits of information and was always organised and prepared with questions and past papers to test my knowledge, which is why I have Shaun to thank for getting a 7/6 at GCSE Combined Science.
Shaun is an extremely talented tutor, his tutoring sessions were one of the most important factors involved in attaining my grade 7 gcse qualification . The content explanation and delivery was great, easy to understand and Shaun never gave up in trying to convey concepts that I was struggling with. The range of resources from lesson plans to question banks he provided and explained in the sessions were also extremely helpful.
As a former student of Mr Shaun, through his help I achieved a grade A for my A-levels in 2022. I am very thankful to him and his teaching method is very easy to understand.
As a previous student of Shaun, I can endorse the fact that he remains as one of the best tutors I have met. He's a passionate and understanding teacher and always found methods to make his lessons more interactive and fascinating. Due to his brilliant efforts, I was able to achieve an A* in A-Level Physics and be able to study at Imperial College London. His set of skills and qualities has matured my understanding of physics and thus my desire to further study it.
Shaun is a dedicated and passionate teacher with strong knowledge and foundation in his subject areas. He tutored my brother in GCSE Physics - a subject which he struggled to understand intuitively, but Shaun did very well in helping him grasp the key ideas through easy-to-understand mind mapping and visualisation of key concepts. His lessons are fun, interactive and effective.
Shaun is talented in tailoring his teaching methods to suit each student's needs, with a clear goal of motivating each student to succeed in their chosen subject and in their overall education. He embodies the true essence of being an educator and shaping the minds of the future.
He is an inspiration and I would highly recommend him to students of any level to give his sessions a go!View more recommendations
