About Kristen
How I help I break IM-style math down into clear, step-by-step explanations: • Fractions and decimals • Multiplication and division • Word problems and multi-step problems • Number lines, tape diagrams, area models, ratio tables • Homework help and test prep My sessions are calm, structured, and encouraging. I focus on helping students understand why strategies work, not just memorizing steps. When math feels logical, confidence grows quickly. Who I work with • Grades 3–5 • Students who feel anxious, stuck, or overwhelmed by math • Students who are fine in class but melt down over homework • Students who need consistent weekly support to stay on track Session format Each 1-hour session typically includes: • Quick check-in and homework scan • Focused support on current lessons / homework • Visual, step-by-step explanation of tricky concepts • Brief skill-building (facts, fractions, etc.) • A simple plan for what to focus on next If your child is frustrated with IM homework, math homework in general or starting to lose confidence in math, I’d love to help them feel capable and successful again.

Welcome to Sable Learning Studio — where math finally starts to make sense.
I’m Kristen, a certified elementary math teacher with over two decades of experience helping students in grades 3–6 build confidence and clarity in math. I specialize in supporting students who are working with the Illustrative Mathematics (IM) curriculum and struggling to make sense of today’s strategies.
Why today’s math feels so different
Math now is full of visual models, number lines, tape diagrams, area models, and multi-step reasoning. These are powerful tools, but they often look nothing like the way parents were taught. Many families tell me, “I want to help, but I don’t even recognize this math.”
