About PARIS
I'm a certified biology teacher currently working in the New York City public school system, teaching a large and diverse group of students every day. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tuskegee University and my Master of Science in Science Education through NYC Teaching Fellows. Before teaching, I served as an Air Force ROTC Flight Commander, which taught me a lot about leadership, discipline, and how to communicate clearly, all things I bring into every lesson I teach.
For me, teaching isn't just a job, it's something I genuinely care about. Every student learns differently, so instead of using the same approach for everyone, I take the time to figure out what actually works for the person in front of me. I want my students to walk away really understanding the material, not just memorizing it long enough to pass a test.
I show up prepared, patient, and consistent every single time. Parents and students should feel confident that they're working with someone who takes their learning seriously and genuinely wants to see them succeed, whether they're trying to catch up, stay on track, or get ahead.

My approach starts with figuring out how a student actually thinks, not just what they're struggling with. I use real-world examples to make abstract biology concepts concrete, and I break down complex topics into smaller, manageable pieces before building back up to the full picture. I rely heavily on visual aids, diagrams, and hands-on analogies because most students retain science better when they can picture it, not just memorize it. I also check for understanding constantly throughout a lesson instead of waiting until the end, so we can catch confusion early and fix it before it snowballs.
