About James
I’ve enjoyed learning my entire life, but as a student, I struggled. School did not come as easily to me as it did to my peers, and I was often afraid to ask questions in class or make mistakes. Because of my struggles as a student, I made it a point to be patient and as clear as possible when instructing students. Learning is easiest when the environment judgment free.
After completing secondary school, I studied math education at Westminster College in Missouri, United States, and taught 8th-grade maths in Missouri for two years after earning my degree.
As both an educator and a former student who struggled, I understand the importance of patience and kindness in helping students find success.

I love maths, but more importantly, I love helping students learn. Not only do I want to help students prepare for tests and exams, but I also want to help them understand what they are doing and why.
I aim to create a safe space where mistakes are welcome and questions are encouraged. Patience and kindness are key to fostering a constructive learning environment.
I am very flexible with how the lessons are structured, depending on the student's needs. The lessons can be student-driven (i.e., they bring materials, such as homework, that I help with), or I can prepare lessons beforehand.

Perfect! After my second class with Jamie, I’m already feeling a lot more confident. I never really got maths but Jamie was very patient and kind and was able to explain things in a way that just made sense.

My little sister was struggling with multiplying and dividing fractions but James explained everything to her in a way that was easy for her to under stand.
I would recommend James to anyone who is having difficulty with math.I worked alongside Jamie for several years and can confidently say that he is an excellent teacher and tutor. His students really enjoy their lessons with him because he is able to make the lessons fun and dynamic while they learn.
