About Aaliyah
Hi! I’m Aaliyah, a Texas-certified 4–8 Mathematics teacher with professional classroom and tutoring experience.
I currently teach middle school mathematics and Math Acceleration, where I work with students who need additional support strengthening foundational math skills and preparing for grade-level expectations and STAAR. My classroom experience has taught me how to identify learning gaps, explain challenging concepts in multiple ways, and help students develop confidence in their mathematical abilities.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin and later earned my Texas Standard Teaching Certificate in 4–8 Mathematics. I am also currently pursuing a Master of Science degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Math has always been one of my strongest subjects, but what I enjoy most is teaching it. I understand that a student struggling with math does not necessarily need more problems—they may need someone to explain the concept differently, rebuild a missing foundational skill, or give them the confidence to keep trying.
I bring the same patience, structure, and individualized instruction I use in my classroom into my private tutoring sessions.
Whether your student needs help catching up, staying on grade level, preparing for STAAR, or getting ahead, my goal is to help them become a stronger and more confident math student.

Every student learns math differently. I begin by identifying where a student is currently performing, what skills may be missing, and what they are learning in school. From there, I create personalized lessons that strengthen foundational skills while helping the student succeed with their current coursework.
As a certified 4–8 Mathematics teacher, I have experience working directly with middle school students and supporting students who need additional intervention in math. My lessons may include reviewing classwork and homework, reteaching difficult concepts, targeted skill practice, test preparation, and strategies that help students become more independent problem-solvers.
I especially enjoy helping students who say, “I’m just not good at math.” My goal is not simply to help students finish an assignment. I want them to understand why the math works so they can eventually solve problems confidently on their own.
I can provide support in areas including:

• 6th–8th grade mathematics
• Pre-Algebra
• Algebra foundations
• Equations and inequalities
• Ratios, proportions, and percentages
• Geometry concepts
• STAAR preparation
