About Debbie
After graduating from the University of Kentucky, I received my education degree in math and science and served in the US Army as a military intelligence officer. Then I went to the University of Oklahoma and received my master's. Following that I tutored for Sylvan Learning Center and taught in the classroom. Once my family settled in Virginia I taught earth and physical science nine years in a classroom. I received the Teacher of the Year award from the Veterans Affairs regional in 2023. I am always looking for new ways to help me teach complex topics. I have been selected to receive an IXL certification and I am taking classes towards becoming an "expert" at using the IXL platform.

My approach to tutoring includes a simplified explanation of the math concepts, followed by several practice problems so that students can gain the confidence to work on the problems independently.
Currently, I teach online classes that focus on middle school science, math, and algebra.
