About Sonia
I am a bubbly and outgoing school teacher whose passion for the English language translates into interactive, fun, and productive lessons producing notable results in significantly improving grades and proficiency levels. I have taught in many schools worldwide and also teach English as a Second Language to foreigners, having acquired my CELTA certification. For primary levels, I focus on grammar, vocab acquisition, comprehension, literacy, and creative writing. For secondary levels, I focus on analyzing poetry, novels, plays, etc., with emphasis on essay writing, structure, and expression of opinions. Graduated with an honors degree in English and Literature from NTU and attained my CELTA teaching certification from the University of Cambridge (UK).

I have 12 years of teaching and tutoring English and Literature at reputed state/international schools and through private lessons-- online and face to face. I have both overseas and local students at primary, secondary, and high school levels. I attained my CELTA qualification from the University of Cambridge, allowing me to teach English as a Second Language to foreigners. I prioritize thinking out of the box and developing a passion for the language as well as a penchant for poetry, novels, and plays. Focused on essay structure and expressing their opinions in a succinct manner with accurate explanations and substantiating evidence from the texts studied. Lessons are usually 1 or 1.5 hours depending on the grade at $30-$50 an hour
