About Raechel
Born in Brisbane, Australia, Raechel Suh began cello studies at the age of eleven and has since earned a reputation as a skillful performer. Her primary teachers have included Dr. Meta Weiss, Norman Fischer, and Molly Kadaurach. During her studies at the Queensland Conservatorium, Raechel was the recipient of the Audition Incentive Bursary, first prize winner of the Piatti Prize, and was nominated by the faculty to perform Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Peter Luff. Competition successes include finalist of the 2018 Australian Concerto & Vocal Competition, and Semi-Finalist in the 2017 Gisborne International Music Competition. Raechel has performed in masterclasses for distinguished cellists David Requiro, Umberto Clerici, David Berlin, Giovanni Gnocchi, Brant Taylor and Howard Penny. Her orchestral highlights include performing as principal cello at Australian Youth Orchestra programs, being selected as a fellow for the Adelaide and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Fellowships, and a Music Academy of the West fellow in 2020. When she is not playing the cello, Raechel enjoys running.

As a passionate music educator, Raechel has over 15 years of teaching experience. Her students have successfully completed AMEB exams and auditioned for the Melbourne Youth Orchestra. Raechel’s beginner students typically work through ‘Possums on the Roof’ and Suzuki. Intermediate and advanced students work through Feuillard, Popper, and Piatti amongst other pieces.
