About Randal
In my capacity as Affiliate Professor, University of Washington: Chem. Eng. (1995-2002); Mech. Eng. (2017-2020) I established internship and capstone projects in collaboration with local companies. This includes personally funding an Internship Program for high school and college students. Both domestic and foreign students were selected to participate. Particular attention was paid to recruiting under represented minorities and disabled persons. For example, transportation and accommodations were provided for qualified African American male students from North Carolina A&T State University, Historically Black College. All interns were paid above minimum wage and were required to complete a scientific research project of 6-8 weeks duration, submit a written report and make a 15-20 minute presentation to the entire company. This enable students to enter graduate (eg medical/dental) school and obtain excellent job placements. Many of our interns are co-inventors on patents and have co-authored numerous publications and presentations.

My approach to teaching is to establish a strong foundation in the fundamentals and to build on that by using critical thinking to solve problems and technical challenges. The objective is to create an exciting learning environment to facilitate the underlying biochemical reactions responsible for memory. I have found this approach to be effective with students of all ages, from K-12 to post graduate students.

Rates vary based upon the relative amount of pre and post tuition session work required on the part of the Tutor. The rate is negotiable.
Fees are paid in advance, and are only refundable if the tutor or unable to provide the service as agreed.
A student may cancel an appointment with 24-hour notification, and is permitted one opportunity to reschedule, otherwise fees are not refundable.
