About Jem
As a second year Literature undergraduate, I have an intense enthusiasm for my subject, and enjoy exploring and analysing different texts’ backgrounds and meanings, particularly through the lens of psychoanalytic theory. Whilst I am fascinated by all areas of my subject, I am primarily interested in Gothicism, Romantic Poetry and Shakespearean and Renaissance literature, interests which I intend to pursue in postgraduate study. As one who can empathise with the lack of enthusiasm with which the Literature GCSE and A Level courses are often regarded in schools, but has pursued their own areas of interest to discover a deep love of literature, I am passionate about inspiring younger generations to appreciate and explore its depths.

I am offering assistance with all areas of the GCSE and A Level syllabuses, from reading and understanding poetry to constructing and developing critical arguments, using the skills I obtained during my own A Level course, in which I achieved an overall A grade and A* in the coursework component. Lessons are tailored to each individual student to meet their specific needs, and can be as structured or unstructured as desired.
