About Joe
I am a 2nd year student studying Computer Science at the University of Cambridge, and as such I use plenty of maths in my day to day studies.
I attained 4 A*s in A-Level Computer Science, Maths, Further Maths and Physics, and I am predicted a 1st for my studies overall.
I have delivered one-off class lessons in primary and secondary schools, as well as one-on-one tutoring to A-Level students who all went on to achieve A*-C

My tutorials follow a supervision style, aimed at students working towards top grades. I will set work either before or during the supervision depending on your preference, and then we will focus on the areas which you found to be most challenging.
The only way to excel in a subject is to learn one level above the required specification. I will ask questions and provide material to further your understanding of different ideas beyond what is usually taught.
My lessons consist of a guided, iterative buildup of concepts: we first identify the general areas in which there is a lack of confidence, then we answer questions to hone in on more specific points of misunderstanding, aiming to build a strong sense of independence and confidence in the subject area.
My belief is that the best way to remember a concept is to figure it out for yourself, so I will help by giving pointers and method suggestions as we work through questions together. My teaching style is actively engaging so as to bring out the best in my students and to show them what they are capable of.

Joe is incredibly intelligent and skilled in Computer Programming but also very emotionally intelligent, making him an excellent tutor. His communication and people skills will allow a tutee to feel comfortable and understood, the perfect basis for then excelling academically with the help of Joe’s tutoring.
