About Shyam
I am a first-year mathematics student, studying at the University of Cambridge. I enjoy sharing my love for mathematics, and have previously done so through volunteer tutoring and open day events. I have also been part of events to help students with preparation for mathematics admissions assessments, which I have personal experience with.
I am also involved with outreach activities at university, working to boost access across Cambridge.

I teach Maths and Further Maths at A Level and GCSE as well as for preparation for university entrance exams.
My lessons generally last an hour, and involve a problem-based approach to teaching, where the student attempts a problem, and I guide them as needed. This active learning approach identifies weaker areas which we can then target in more detail. I always work to ensure that students understand why a particular method is used, not just how it is used.
I developed this style of teaching through volunteering as a tutor with a Coronavirus Catch-Up programme.
