About Wren
I am a student currently reading for the English Tripos at Cambridge University. I achieved four A* grades at A-Level, receiving full marks in my exams and almost all essays during my time at Sixth Form. I achieved all 9/A* grades at GCSE, with 9s in English literature and English language, and a distinction in English speaking. I have tutored children from Year Seven to Year Thirteen since I was sixteen, helping them to successfully improve both their grades and their enjoyment of the subject.

I would be able to give lessons to primary school, KS3, GCSE, AS and A-Level students, focusing on English Literature or Language, whether focusing on improving textual analysis, essay writing, or creative writing. I am also able to offer tutoring in History and Sociology, at GCSE or A-Level, again focusing either on enriching a general understanding of the subject while simultaneously improving exam technique and essay writing skills.
Depending on what was required by the student, I would be able to focus on helping with work set by the school, such as exam practice essays or coursework, or set work that I think would help the student particularly improve within the subject beyond what is being set by their school.
I would also love to help students with Oxbridge/university applications. This could include personal statement writing, interview practice and advise, and tutoring for the ELAT (English Literature Admissions Test required by both Oxford and Cambridge.
I would love to help students to gain a high level of understanding and learn both for academic achievement and personal enrichment, whatever their level of education and ability, or desired goal.
In terms of individual sessions, I would be very happy to direct my teaching approach depending on what the student or parents thought would best suit them, whether this involved closely reading, analysing and discussing a text together, planning essays and exam responses, or looking over and working to improve written work. I hope to plan sessions which are varied and exciting, while also allowing a deep focus on individual texts and ideas to help students to reach their full potential.
I am flexible in terms of lesson format. If you are local to the Cambridge area, I would be able to offer in-person lessons, either coming to your home or choosing another location if the student will benefit more from face-to-face teaching. Otherwise, I am more than happy to offer online teaching via Zoom.
