About Joe
I have developed software in commercial settings using C++, Python and Java, and have developed personal projects using C#, JavaScript (TypeScript) and Rust.
I just graduated with a Distinction (with Honours, July 2023) in my Master's degree, and a 1st (with Honours) in my Bachelor's degree, both from the University of Cambridge. I attained 5 A*s at A-Level.
Personally, I have a passion for computer graphics and computer architecture, and I regularly contribute to open-source projects.

My lessons consist of a guided, iterative buildup of concepts: we first identify the general areas in which there is a lack of confidence, then we answer questions to hone in on more specific points of misunderstanding, aiming to build a strong sense of independence and confidence in the subject area.
My first session is free and helps us to find our first steps - complete beginners are welcome, and I always make sure your foundations are strong before moving on.
I will set work either before or during the supervision depending on your preference, and then we will focus on the areas which you found to be most challenging.
I aim to demonstrate core computer science principles that are transferable, so the skills you learn stay relevant in the fast-moving environment of modern software engineering.
My belief is that the best way to remember a concept is to figure it out for yourself, so I will help by giving pointers and method suggestions as we work through questions together. My teaching style is actively engaging so as to bring out the best in my students and to show them what they are capable of.

Joe is incredibly intelligent and skilled in Computer Programming but also very emotionally intelligent, making him an excellent tutor. His communication and people skills will allow a tutee to feel comfortable and understood, the perfect basis for then excelling academically with the help of Joe’s tutoring.
