About Marina
I am a Cambridge-certified Mathematics educator with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Sunderland, UK. Over the past 20 years, I have taught mathematics internationally — in the United States (including several years in California), the Middle East, and Eastern Europe — helping students from middle school through university level achieve their academic goals. My teaching experience includes working in California’s WASC- and NCAA-accredited learning centers, where I prepared students for Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics, SAT, and ACT, as well as adapting lessons to meet California Common Core Standards. This diverse background has given me a deep understanding of different curricula and student needs. I take pride in delivering patient, structured, and engaging lessons that make complex topics clear and approachable. By tailoring my methods to each student’s learning style, I help them not only improve their grades but also build confidence and enjoy the subject. Professionalism, reliability, and a genuine passion for education guide every session I teach.

My Approach as a Tutor: As a Cambridge-certified Math educator with over 20 years of international teaching experience, I believe that successful learning happens when lessons are engaging, clearly explained, and tailored to the student’s individual needs. My teaching style blends structured guidance with interactive problem-solving, encouraging students to take an active role in their own learning. Teaching Method & Techniques: I use a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, and real-life applications to make mathematical concepts relatable and easy to understand. I incorporate visual aids, step-by-step explanations, and technology-based tools such as graphing software and interactive activities to reinforce learning. For struggling students, I break down complex topics into manageable steps, while for advanced learners I offer enrichment activities to challenge and inspire deeper thinking. Typical Lesson Plan: - Warm-up & Review – Quick recap of the previous lesson to reinforce retention. - Concept Introduction – Clear explanation of the topic using examples, diagrams, or real-world contexts. - Guided Practice – Working through problems together, ensuring understanding before independent work. - Independent Practice – Students solve problems on their own with my support when needed. - Wrap-up & Feedback – Review key takeaways, address any misconceptions, and set practice goals for the next session. What Sets Me Apart: - Cambridge-certified with a proven track record of raising test scores (IGCSE, A-Level, SAT/ACT). - International teaching experience across the U.S., Middle East, and Eastern Europe, giving me a broad perspective on different curricula and learning styles. - Patient, approachable, and encouraging — I create a safe learning environment where students feel confident asking questions. - Custom-tailored lessons that match the student’s pace, goals, and preferred learning style. Who My Lessons Are For: - Middle school, high school, and college students needing help in Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics. - Students preparing for IGCSE, A-Level, SAT, ACT, and other standardized exams. - Learners seeking to build confidence, improve grades, or get ahead in their studies. - Adults returning to education who want to refresh or strengthen their math skills.
