About Stephen
I have over four years of tutoring experience, including providing online tutoring since 2022, working as a Teaching Assistant supporting SEND students at my local secondary school, and working with children aged 5–16 at a summer camp in Canada. Alongside tutoring, I currently work in the UK Civil Service Fast Stream.

My Approach to Tutoring:
My tutoring focuses on evidence-based study techniques that help students understand and retain information effectively. Rather than relying on passive revision methods like rereading notes, I encourage strategies such as active recall, practice questions, and explaining concepts in their own words, which are proven to strengthen long-term learning and exam performance.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes and are structured to include reviewing previous material, learning or clarifying key concepts, practising exam-style questions, and finishing with quick recall exercises and revision strategies.
My lessons are suitable for students at KS3, GCSE and A Level, particularly in English Language, English Literature, History, Economics, and GCSE Science. My goal is to build students’ confidence, understanding, and exam technique so they can succeed independently.

I offer a free initial lesson to assess strengths and areas for improvement, and to discuss how I can best support your learning going forward.
Ongoing lessons start from £35 per hour. I also provide complimentary tailored revision materials to support progress outside of sessions, helping students consolidate what we cover and build confidence between lessons.
