About Erin
Hello! My name is Erin and I am a MSc Student at UCL. I have worked and volunteered with school-aged children my entire life and I am passionate about providing educational support to those who may need it, especially during the pandemic.
My tutoring background began in high school, where I tutored middle school-aged children in algebra and helped with their homework. I received my undergraduate degree in biology from a liberal arts institution, so in addition to math and science courses, I was able to obtain a well-rounded education by taking English and arts classes as well. Throughout my undergraduate career, I was involved in a service fraternity, where I was able help school-aged children with their homework. My most rewarding tutoring memory was during my final year of university, through an English course on the etymology of the English language, I was able to tutor autistic children in Latin by creating special games and activities for them to complete. Upon graduation from university, I worked at a Children’s Hospital, where, in addition to my formal duties, I was able to spend time with the sick children. Here, I noticed how much the children missed learning while away from school, and I gained a newfound appreciation for teachers and tutors helping kids with their education.
I believe tutoring will be a perfect complement to my education, and allow me to help students during a time of educational uncertainty.

I believe teaching requires a lot of patience. I am willing to work through a problem numerous times, in order for the student to understand the concept. I also am a firm believer in "practice makes perfect" and repetition of a concept is vital for proper learning.
