About Najma
Feeling overwhelmed by GCSE Science is common, but you don't have to face it alone. My goal is to transform your confusion into confidence and your potential into top grades. With a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science, I provide a deep, university-level understanding of the subjects you're studying. This means I don't just teach the textbook; I explain the why behind the concepts, making them easier to grasp and remember. My approach is both professional and proven. As a qualified classroom teacher, I am intimately familiar with the GCSE curriculum and exam techniques. This is complemented by over four years of one-on-one tutoring experience, ensuring that every lesson is tailored specifically to your learning style and goals. I am dedicated to your success. My lessons are structured, focused, and designed to build your understanding step-by-step, while also equipping you with the exam skills to excel. Let's work together to achieve the results you deserve.

My Approach to Tutoring GCSE Science My philosophy is rooted in demystifying complex scientific concepts by building a strong foundational understanding and fostering genuine curiosity. With the right guidance, every student can develop confidence and excel in science. My Techniques and Teaching Methodology My methodology is a blend of structured teaching and adaptive tutoring, leveraging my unique background: Diagnostic Start: We begin by identifying key gaps in knowledge and misconceptions through quick, low-stakes quizzes and discussion. This ensures our time is focused and efficient. "Foundation Up" Building: Using my deep subject knowledge from my Biomedical Science degree, I break down topics to their core principles. I often use analogies and real-world examples (e.g., how the immune system works like a security team) to make abstract ideas tangible and memorable. Active Application & Practice: We move quickly from theory to application. I focus heavily on: Exam Technique: Deconstructing command words (e.g., 'evaluate', 'describe'), and teaching students how to structure answers to earn maximum marks. Past Paper Practice: Applying knowledge to actual exam questions is the most effective way to prepare. We practise extensively, focusing on the student's specific exam board. Interactive & Socratic Dialogue: I act as a guide, using questioning techniques to help the student reason through problems and arrive at the answers themselves. This builds critical thinking skills and long-term retention far more effectively than passive listening. Typical Length of a Lesson My standard lesson is 60 minutes. This provides sufficient time to review previous work, introduce a new concept, practise applying it, and consolidate learning without being overwhelming. I also offer 90-minute sessions for students preparing for mock exams or those who benefit from more extended, in-depth practice. My Qualifications & Experience My expertise is built on a dual foundation of academic knowledge and practical teaching experience: Academic Qualification: I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science, providing me with an expert-level, university-validated understanding of the core scientific disciplines, especially Biology. Teaching Experience: I am a qualified science teacher with over one year of classroom experience. This means I am thoroughly versed in the GCSE curriculum, assessment objectives, and the common pressures students face in a school setting. Tutoring Experience: I have been tutoring for over four years, honing my skills in one-on-one instruction. This has given me extensive practice in personalising my approach to suit individual learning styles and building rapid rapport with students.
