About Sophia
While I like to keep sessions relaxed and approachable, I take my role as a tutor seriously and always come prepared. Having performed strongly in both AP Chemistry and my general chemistry college courses, I’ve built a solid understanding of the material and the strategies needed to succeed. I strive to create a respectful, organized learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves. My teaching style focuses on structured, step-by-step clarity to make complex chemistry concepts feel manageable and approachable. I break ideas into clear explanations, logical sequences, and practical examples, beginning with the big picture before moving into guided examples, practice problems, and a concise recap. I actively engage students by asking strategic “why” and “how” questions to strengthen critical thinking rather than memorization. Because I am also a student, I understand the challenges learners face and use methods that I’ve personally found effective. I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where questions are always welcome and mistakes are viewed as opportunities to grow. My lessons are designed for students in entry-level high school chemistry, AP Chemistry, or introductory college chemistry who want to build confidence and truly understand the material.
