About Catherine
I get genuinely excited talking about Biology. There's nothing I love more than the "aha" moment, especially in small groups, when something that felt impossible suddenly clicks.
I really believe every student can make huge improvements. Most of the time, a tricky idea just needs explaining in a new way. I love finding the exact question that's been causing someone grief, breaking it right down to the basic idea underneath it, and watching that moment of pure pride when kids realize they could do it all along.
My approach is built on small wins, nailing the basics first, then using them to build toward the bigger, trickier concepts. We want to deepen understanding over time.
I'm a fully qualified Biology and Chemistry teacher with 10 years' experience teaching all over the world, so however you learn best, I'll find a way to make it work for you.

Techniques and methodology:
I start by figuring out exactly where you're getting stuck, then build your understanding from there instead of just repeating what you already know. I use real, hands-on examples (I've run school science labs for years) to make tricky Biology ideas actually make sense. We also practice exam technique, so you know how to turn understanding into marks.
Lesson length:
45 to 50 minutes per session. Long enough to really get into a topic or work through exam questions properly, short enough to stay focused and not burn out, especially for younger students.
Qualifications/experience:
I'm a fully qualified Biology teacher with 10 years of classroom experience across several countries and exam systems, including AP, A Level, GCSE and IGCSE. My AP Biology students have achieved brilliant results, with 95% scoring a top grade. I also have experience supporting students who need extra help keeping up, plus years of weekend tutoring back in Ireland. I hold a Working with Children Check, with my Victorian teaching registration in progress.
Who my lessons are for:
Middle school and high school Science students of all levels. Whether you're building confidence with the basics or prepping hard for a big exam, I'll tailor each session to exactly what you need.
