About Eric
Being a pre-med can be tough—I get it, and I’ve got you. I’m laid-back, patient, and flexible, and I tailor lessons to where you’re at and how you learn best. My goal is to make challenging material approachable, build your confidence, and help you feel truly prepared for exams and coursework. I'm the kind of tutor you want if you're the type to enter a chemistry course still not entirely sure what a molecule is - I've been there, and I believe a solid foundation and revisiting basics will always benefit in the long run. I earned my BA in Biochemistry from Lewis & Clark College, graduating magna cum laude, and I have plenty of experience supporting pre-med and STEM students as an undergraduate tutor and teaching assistant in lecture and lab. I am looking to apply to grad school within the next year or two, and I have my eyes set on becoming a Physician Associate. Also, LGBTQ friendly if you're looking for someone in the community!

My lessons are built around the idea that no question is a dumb question. I’m a big believer in “you don’t know what you don’t know,” which means if you can't ask a question about the material, we can always revisit the bare basics, assess what we know super well, and build up until we reach some grey area.
I always meet students where they’re at and adapt to a wide range of learning styles. I use clear explanations, visuals, analogies, and creative connections to help concepts click in a way that feels intuitive and sustainable. Every question is met with patience and validation, and my goal is to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable engaging honestly with the material.
A typical lesson begins with a brief check-in on goals or upcoming exams, followed by targeted concept review and guided problem-solving. We focus on understanding why things work, not just how to get the right answer, and I regularly highlight common exam pitfalls and strategies. I wrap up each session by summarizing key takeaways and, if helpful, suggesting how to study between lessons.
I tutor General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Molecular Biology, and College Prep, and my lessons are especially well-suited for pre-med undergraduates and high school sciences. I’m also happy to share pre-med and college advice when helpful, drawing from my own academic experience to support both coursework and long-term goals.
