About Yvonne
Hello! :) To get to know me better, I will tell you a little bit about myself. I am from Hamburg and graduated from a bilingual grammar school in 2018. In other words - I wrote my final exam in Economics in English and got 15 points (1+) for English at a higher level. I then moved to London and am currently studying politics and economics there. When I was still in Hamburg, I debated Jugend Debattiert in German and English at EYP. Accordingly, I am not only fluent in speaking and that can be really fast, but also have no German accent! I know we are known for it abroad ;).
I loved watching English series as a child, because back then it wasn't always translated as it is today. Books and films brought my love for the language - which I now speak every day in England. I really want to pass this passion on to others and show them how easier it is in life when you master it and what opportunities it can bring in your career.
Whether it is for the school in a presentation or to understand what is happening in other countries around the world. It is our global language and we want to be part of this society!

When I see a student for the first time, I want to see what your individual needs are but also what interests you. That means at the beginning I ask a lot of questions and a few tasks from different areas in order to be able to assess your level.
Then we see what the goal of our lessons should be - a good grade in school? Understanding English for every day? Do you want to write English essays and study there? We all not only have different goals but also different types of learners! Maybe you are a visual learner and then we look at a lot of material or you read liver and then we work best with it!
Ultimately, I want you to be an active speaker and reader! Back when I learned French in school it was only passive and I couldn't speak a word myself. From the beginning, we will try to speak only in English and you will do the most. Don't worry - it is not as scary as it can seem.
What is important to me?
It is important to me that you have fun and that you want to deal with English every day. I encourage you to follow German websites on social media, read the news or watch YouTube videos. If you are more advanced, books are definitely the way to go!
What is my class like?
- Discuss the last week in German (what did you do?) - Discuss homework (vocabulary will be included in the quizlet
- I recommend everyone to do this)
- Work alternately on reading/writing/listening / speaking through grammar work/dialogues/videos (Depends on whether or not you want to take the Ghoete test) We also look at and discuss news or trending topics so you can speak actively.
- At the end, we discuss next week's homework
English or American culture:
I really want everyone to see the wonderful places of English or American culture, but also the characteristics to look out for before we visit! I can therefore also teach historical background and cultural nuances.
If you're looking to read books, watch movies, listen to podcasts, or watch Youtube channels on the side, I have a great list of things to do - so you can learn beyond what I teach! I also recommend some English apps that you can use to immerse yourself in this environment.

Perfect! Yvonne hat unseren Sohn in Englisch auf das Abitur vorbereitet. Anscheinend hat sich es sehr gut gemacht, denn er hat im mündlichen 13 Punkte geholt. Eigentlich hatten wir mit einer viel schlechteren Note gerechnet. Sie hat sich sehr gut auf ihn eingestellt, hat ihm entsprechende Übungen gegeben und mehrfach eine Prüfung simuliert. Ich kann Yvonne sehr empfehlen.
