About Leonore
I have been giving private lessons to pre-school children, school children, university students, business people and retired people from all five continents for more than three decades and I always preferred giving one-to-one classes because the student benefits so much more. Lessons can be set to the student's pace and I can fully concentrate on supporting this one student. I grew up with English and German and went to a private academy for interpreting and translating. I am very well versed with the grammar of both languages - English and German. Many of my students prepare for the Goethe-Zertifikat with me and I am very proud that 99% of my students passed the exam at the Goethe Institut (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) with "sehr gut" excellent results. I have worked as a translator and language trainer in one-to-one tuition for more than thirty years. Hello and welcome to my profile : ) I am a certified language trainer and a certified translator and I specialize in TAILOR-MADE GERMAN TUITION FOR NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS. I have given more than 50 thousand lessons in one-to-one tuition and I also specialize in Deutsch Zertifikats-Training. My students usually take the Goethe Zertifikat (level A1-C2) - as external students. More than a thousand students prepared for their Goethe Zertifikat with me. My approach to teaching is a mixture of written material such as books and my own exercises which I tailor and design according to the student's individual needs. All the books and printed material I am working with are in accordance with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference For Languages) as well as the learning material that I prepare for you. During my lessons I focus on a student centered teaching style and I am emphasizing all four abilities "speaking", "listening", "reading" and "writing" during my lessons. You will always practice with "high quality" audios and videos as well.

Perfect! Leonore does a great job of taking pace. As a beginner learning German, she started out by getting to know more about myself and my reason to learn German. From there, she assessed and announced a plan that would get me to a certain level that both of us are comfortable with. She takes her time explaining grammar, sentence structure, and German history.. all while incorporating resources that are modern, in-depth, and original. She has done a great job of creating a German world for an American girl. 10/10.
- When we got started Micheala was a total beginner and she has been taking two German lessons per week with me for the last six weeks. Micheala was very focused and diligent from lesson one. I am extremely pleased that Micheala’s German has improved notably since she started taking lessons with me. After only six weeks Micheala can talk about herself and her family members on a beginner's level and she can read, speak, write and interact in a simple way with other persons.Leonore's response :
Micheala’s goal - her trip to Germany - is the main topic during our lessons. We are also preparing Micheala for taking her CEFR A1 level examination “Deutsch ZERTIFIKAT A1” at one of the officially licensed examining institutions for the German language in the US.
During all our lessons Micheala has been a self-motivated and positively spirited student who is great fun to work with. She is on a really good way to find her individual rhythm of learning the German language and thus to improve her skills significantly in the near future. I am sure Micheala will take her A1 exam with excellent results. : )

After such a long time, i've finally found the right teacher for me.
Leonore is my Ariadne's thread! She is leading me through the maze of the german language in a step by step, structured way which fits and is adapted to me and my personality. She shows immense skill in her adaptability.
Most importantly of all she delivers her lessons with an empathetic and friendly twist of the ear. Which is greater depends on which is needed more!Leonore was my German language teacher while I was living in Frankfurt in 2011-2012. With her help I was able to quickly pick up the language and develop confidence in my writing, reading and speaking skills. She is a very effective teacher and experienced teacher and I would highly recommend her to future students. She is very personable and committed to helping her students grow.
Leonore is a very good teacher. She is demanding and very thorough so you know you are always in good hands. She is also very passionate about her work and friendly.
Leonore always encouraged me to take the Goethe Institut exams. I decided to go ahead and it gave my learning a good structure and myself a clear plan I would follow. I passed my exams from Level A1 to B1 with very good grades which gave me a sense of achievement and confidence in using my German.
