About Samantha
I graduated with a degree in Mathematics and German and am currently studying actuarial science. During my time in undergraduate school, I gained about two years of one-on-one tutor experience with college students. I worked with students directly or in small groups who needed assistance with applied calculus, basic trigonometry & applications, pre-calculus algebra & trigonometry, calculus I & II, and elementary statistical methods. Additionally, I would frequently meet with classmates and volunteer my time to help with their math homework; this includes everyday tutoring sessions with the same individual throughout the entire semester over coffee and leading small "study table" groups of 3-6 peers in the library.

I believe that direct instruction is a great strategy to begin with when teaching students. It presents the subject being taught, displays a common method used to tackle to material, and shows how to solve example problems. Once the subject matter is communicated, there is opportunity for students to work in small groups or independently on the material. During this time, students will learn problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, which will allow them to develop self-motivation abilities.
