About Siam Hannah
I am currently studying for my Master’s in Translation Studies (German and Japanese) at Durham University. Having grown up in a bilingual household with Japanese and English, and having attended Japanese primary and middle school, I am fluent in both languages and understand the challenges of learning them.
I also have two years of voluntary teaching experience at a Japanese school in England, as well as experience teaching English as a foreign language in Germany.
I would love to use my knowledge and experience to help you enjoy learning Japanese and feel excited about connecting with Japanese people through their language!

My Lessons
- Focus on conversational Japanese (everyday talk, casual situations) with grammar and vocabulary using the Genki textbook as a primary resource for accuracy.
- Learn about Japanese culture and etiquette, and how they connect to the language.
- Optionally, explore Japanese media (anime, TV, films) to make learning more fun.
Lesson length: average 1 hour, maximum 2 hours. Available to do multiple sessions a week.
Who Can Join
- Beginners welcome! Just bring a willingness to practice and learn vocabulary outside class.
- I also support learners preparing for the JLPT (N5–N1) with guided textbook study.

- The goal is simple: talk, practice, and build confidence.

Perfect! Siam is an excellent sensei from a beginners perspective. Very patient, friendly and comfortable to spend time with. Lessons are always well prepared and delivered and she is flexible to suit your goals.
