About Shaheryar
I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Molecular & Cell Biology and am currently a first year medical student. I have scored in the 99th percentile on my SAT and scored above the 90th percentile on the MCAT science sections. The rigorous nature of both my undergraduate university and now my medical school education have provided me with a very strong foundation in the basic sciences (chemistry, biology, and physics) and mathematics. Additionally, having taken several standardized tests throughout my academic journey, and having scored very well on them, I am confident in my own ability to help students learn effective test taking strategies to help them succeed themselves on tests in school. I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to tutor students from all age groups ranging from elementary school to college level students in various subjects such as math, science, and more. Typically I like to first gauge what type of learner the student whom I am working with is. If my student learns best visually, I like to use lots of detailed images to explain concepts; however, if my student learns best from watching me solve a similar type of problem that they are stuck on then I will use that approach. I also like to provide students with lots of hints and clues so students can arrive to the correct answer themselves so that the next time that they see a similar problem on a test or quiz in class, they will be able to successfully solve the problem with ease.
