I’m a licensed insurance agent, and this is a profession where constant studying is important. I’ve maintained straight A’s since returning to school and I love helping out. I’ve tutored at every level of my education and I truly enjoy it.

My training in psychology helps me identify the way that others learn and cater to them.
For example, I tutor students taking nursing pre-reqs and noticed that she was anxious when called upon to answer a question. Her anxiety was a barrier to her absorbing the information. Rather than put her on the spot, I would have her quiz me. That way she was in control and her fear of getting the answers wrong wouldn’t interfere with absorbing material. I also had a Spanish speaking student who would comment on howcertain Spanish words would remind her of the heavily Latin-based medical terminology. She would comment on how the Spanish word “para” means “stop” and so I reminded her that the parasympathetic system need you to stop so you can rest, or stop eating to digest food.
Who you’re tutoring is just as important as what is being taught.
