About Justin
My name is Justin, and I’m a 4th-year physiology student at McMaster University with a deep passion for science, health, and sports. From a young age, I played elite-level soccer with clubs like TFC Academy, Hamilton United, Milton Magic Youth Soccer Club, and Oakville Blue Devils Academy. My commitment to the sport led me to study health sciences at Simon Fraser University on an athletic scholarship before returning home to Hamilton in 2022. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of playing for McMaster’s men’s varsity soccer team from 2022 to 2024, balancing academics and athletics while developing invaluable skills in leadership, communication, and time management. My journey as an athlete, coach, and student has fueled my curiosity about the science of human performance, injury prevention, and physiology. Studying physiology has deepened my appreciation for the intricate mechanisms that sustain life, while my research experience—particularly in stem cell research and metabolic diseases—has shown me the impact that scientific advancements can have on individuals' health. At the same time, coaching young athletes in soccer and working as a lifeguard have reinforced the importance of service, empathy, and clear communication. These experiences have shaped my desire to pursue medicine, where I can combine my passion for science with my commitment to helping others. I’m eager to embrace new challenges, continue learning, and contribute meaningfully to the medical field—whether through patient care or scientific research.
