About Ying
After coming to Sydney from high school, I have studied music in a private music high school in the city. I participated in the school's music ensemble several times and achieved high band 5 in Music 2 and Music Extension. - Graduated from UNSW: Bachelor of Arts/Music, majoring in Piano Education. Graduate of UNSW Master of Secondary Teaching (double music). - I am able to teach AMEB Preliminary to Amus students, music theory up to grade 5, and I can teach in both English and Chinese. I have been teaching for 5 years and all my students have received B+, A, and A+ grades! - I will intersperse my lessons with some essential music theory knowledge depending on the piece being learned. - I'm available every Monday and Thursday afternoons. From the beginning of piano education, I will focus on building a strong foundation by exploring technique, music theory and rhythm. I believe in cultivating this through the student’s imagination for music and perception of rhythmic beat. To aid this, I encourage my students to take part in the regular concerts, masterclasses and workshops run by our school. Through this the students can begin to accumulate stage experience and increase their self-confidence.
By using a mixture of set exercises/pieces and repertoire based on the student’s passions, I believe this will let students learn whilst cultivating their love of music.
