About Charmian
Advanced learners often struggle more than absolute beginners because they have picked up bad habits. I find that kids are the most natural singers because they do not overthink the mechanics.
My Bachelor of Arts in Ethnomusicology from UCLA provides a framework for the vocal techniques I teach. Having spent 9 years of experience performing and teaching, I understand the challenges of stage fear management.
I enjoy helping students navigate the space between their ears and their voices. It is quite rewarding to watch a student find their natural vibrato control. We work on genre styling for pop and musical theater in a way that feels authentic.

Warm air travels from the lungs through the throat to find the perfect resonance. I provide free access to my breathing and warm-up exercise notes to keep you healthy between our meetings. We refine diction and articulation while working on microphone technique for live settings. My background in traditional music informs how I teach harmony singing and pitch control.
We address vocal health and care to ensure you can sing for a lifetime. It is just about finding the right sound for you.
