About Tej
I'm Tej, a second-year Mathematics student at Queen Mary University of London, where I finished my first year with 90% overall and was awarded the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and the QMUL Mathematical Sciences Prize. I studied Further Maths myself, so I know first-hand how challenging it can feel and what it takes to master it.
I've been tutoring since 2023, with over 400 hours of experience teaching students of all ages, both one-to-one and in groups. What I enjoy most is seeing a student go from "I don't get this" to explaining the idea back to me with confidence.
I'm patient, reliable and well organised. I always arrive on time and prepared, and I'm happy to keep parents updated on progress. My aim is simple: to make maths feel less intimidating and help every student reach their full potential.

Hi, I'm Tej, a second-year Mathematics student at Queen Mary University of London. Maths has always been my favourite subject, and I love helping students get to the moment where a tricky topic finally clicks.
My approach
Further Maths can feel like a big step up, so I focus on understanding rather than memorising. For each topic, I start with the key idea and why it works. Then we go through worked examples together, and you try questions yourself while I guide you. I pay close attention to how you think, so I can spot exactly where a misunderstanding starts and fix it at the root. Every lesson is tailored to you. Whether you need to catch up on a topic you've been struggling with, stretch yourself towards an A*, or sharpen your exam technique, I'll adapt the pace and content to your goals. As exams approach, we'll work through past papers and mark schemes so you know exactly what examiners are looking for.
Lesson length
Lessons are usually 60 minutes. I also offer 90-minute sessions for students who want more time on past papers or harder topics.
My qualifications and experience
A* in A-Level Mathematics and grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics
90% overall in my first year at Queen Mary, winning the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and the QMUL Mathematical Sciences Prize
UKMT medallist in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Mathematical Challenges
Over 400 hours of tutoring experience, including group tuition in maths and science at Heston Community School and one-to-one maths tutoring at Kumon for students aged 6–16
Who the lessons are for
My lessons are for A-Level Further Maths students (usually aged 16–18) who want to build confidence, fill gaps in their understanding or push for top grades. I also help GCSE students taking Level 2 Further Maths, and A-Level Maths students who want extra support alongside their Further Maths.
