About Petra
Violinist Petra Momcilovic has performed as a soloist throughout the US and Europe from Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to concert halls in Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Macedonia, and Serbia. She studied with Xiao Wang, Frank Almond, Ilana Setapen and Dr. Bernard Zinck and has worked with Augustin Hadelich, Joel Smirnoff, Boris Kuschnir, Gerardo Ribeiro, Paul Kantor, Blair Milton and Dejan Mihailovic. In 2014 Petra studied with violinist Tymur Melnyk in Vienna, Austria. She made her debut with orchestra at the age of 10 performing the Bach Double Violin Concerto with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Petra is a winner of many competitions including the East Coast International Music Competition, American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music, Euterpe International Music Competition, American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, and the Wisconsin Philharmonic's Shining Stars Scholarship. She has participated in the Bienen School of Music Summer Violin Institute, Internationale Sommerakademie Biel and the Stulberg International String Competition Masterclass Program. Petra was Concertmaster, Associate Concertmaster and Assistant Concertmaster of the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2008-2013 and performed multiple times as a soloist with the orchestra. In 2010 she founded a string quartet, Quattro Corde, which performed for charity events throughout Wisconsin for a number of years. Petra began studying the violin at the age of 6 in Serbia with former Concertmaster of the Nis Symphony Orchestra, Dragan Stefanovic, and won the "Little Virtuoso Competition" in Belgrade, Serbia a year later.
