About Jacob
Hi there! My name is Jacob Collins Hall, and I am a fourth-year student at the University of Adelaide, studying the Bachelor of Medical Studies / Doctor of Medicine program.
I graduated Ocean View College in 2022 as class dux and head prefect. My final mark for Methods was A+ (19.50). Additionally, I received a Governor's Award (1 of 36 in SA for 2022) for research regarding hydrogels and regularly tutoring peers in Mathematical Methods. Importantly, I have a WWCC and am first-aid qualified.
I am thoroughly passionate about tutoring, as I recognize that sometimes all a student needs is some 1-on-1 learning with a teacher to deepen their knowledge considerably. This leads to improved educational outcomes, which lend themselves to beneficial life outcomes. I am patient and understanding with pupils, and work to establish personal connections with them, as to make the learning experience more hospitable.

I offer tutoring for:
• Mathematics (Years 7-10)
• Science (Years 7-10)
• SACE General Mathematics (Stages 1-2)
• SACE Mathematical Methods (Stages 1-2)
• SACE Chemistry (Stages 1-2)
• Human Anatomy and Physiology IA/IB (Year 1 UoA)
• Other subjects upon request (English & RP, notably)
I believe in foundational learning, which involves ensuring a student has mastered prior content before attempting to learn new material. I have previously demonstrated this technique's efficacy - for example, teaching a classmate about factorizing before moving to derivatives and locating stationary points (SACE Stg 1 Methods). My session lengths are between 1-2 hours, as I find this reaches the best balance between focus and having enough time to genuinely learn. I conduct sessions either online (webcam) or in-person, at the State Library.

Perfect! Jacob is a brilliant tutor who helped me complete the Adelaide University Year 12 Maths Methods equivalent in just a few months of weekly lessons. I highly recommend him for his use of real-world examples and his eagerness to teach. I contacted multiple tutors before Jacob and none of them were willing to help. Truly a diamond in the rough
- Timely, well-mannered, and eager to learn. Jack proves to be an example of what someone can do when they genuinely put their head to maths, even if the concepts are totally unfamiliar.Jacob's response :

Jacob was able to pinpoint the reason why I was struggling in year 10A maths, when I didn't even know why myself. He adapted his help style to my interests, and provided real life examples where I couldn't see what the teacher was trying to say. If it wasn't for his assistance, I might have dropped out of maths entirely in later years. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I'd suggest you try out his services.
Jacob is an outstanding tutor for chemistry and maths. His expertise is thorough, and he has a natural talent for simplifying complex topics. If you're looking for someone who can make these subjects click for you, I highly recommend him as he is reliable and dedicated, and genuinely cares about your success.
A hard and dedicated worker who is committed to the success of their students. Jacob has been a massive help when it comes to overcoming hurdles I have faced when learning Maths. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn from a concise and patient tutor.
Jacob was always punctual, friendly, and incredibly effective at explaining math and chemistry concepts that I didn’t get in class. His english drafts were also very easy to understand, aiding in the development of my skills and improving my final assessment grades by whole bands. I would 100% recommend him to anyone considering his services.
