She was always kind and answering questions I didn’t even realize I should have been asking about a creative relationship to the instrument. It also didn’t hurt that her technique is deliberate and disciplined. Her theoretical practical and technical knowledge borders the insane, and branches into cooperation with technologies seemingly unrelated yet yielding broad creative potential.

Joey was my instructor for many years. Joey helped me as a beginner guitar student, coached me through my intermediate stage as an adolescent, and took me through classical, jazz, and heavy duty music theory when I was ready for it. I really loved Joey's ability to integrate technology into lessons. I always knew, without a doubt, that I could go to Joey for help me with my fledgling recording set up. While helping me achieve my goals as a player (from childhood to adulthood), Joey also helped me with my ability to record music, program the other instruments, and mix my final product. I received way more than just guitar lessons from Joey. Joey was (and is!) a friend and trusted adult in my life. I would highly recommend Joey as a guitar instructor to anyone I know.

Joey is an amazing teacher who really gets to know her students. She's really good at skill assessment and mindfully crafts out lessons that emphasize a student's strengths while finding and exploring with different techniques that a person could use to improve - all in a very fun and incredibly down to earth, fashion.

I learned a great deal taking lessons from Joey for four years. Not only in terms of music theory, pentatonic scales, and learning an instrument for the first time, but also in just how to be a good person in my late teens/formulative years.

Hands down, Joey was one of the best teachers I've ever had. Humble yet brilliant in terms of musical talent, but also just one of the most sympathetic and funniest persons I'd ever met.
