With over 20 years of experience in the art world, I bring a diverse and rich background to my teaching practice. I've worked as an exhibition designer for renowned museums and galleries in New York City, collaborating with contemporary artists to create captivating, thought-provoking displays. Additionally, as a professional tattoo artist for two decades, I have honed a deep understanding of design and precision, bringing a unique perspective to both traditional and modern art forms. Beyond my tattoo work, I have built a successful career as a commercial artist, designing everything from decorative art for hotels and restaurants to commercial pieces used in high-profile business spaces across the United States. As a fine artist, my work has been exhibited in various galleries, where I’ve had the privilege of showcasing my artistic vision and techniques. As an art professor with over 15 years of experience, my teaching method is rooted in personalization and adaptability. I focus on tailoring each lesson to the student’s unique style, pace, and artistic goals, ensuring that every student receives the support and guidance they need to succeed. My approach blends traditional techniques with modern technology, creating an engaging, hands-on learning environment.
Teaching Method and Techniques:
I believe in a combination of structured lessons and creative freedom. For studio arts, we begin with foundational techniques such as shading, composition, and color theory, progressively moving to more advanced methods like mixed media and sculpture. In digital art, I incorporate industry-standard software, guiding students through projects that sharpen their digital skills, from design to final execution. For tattooing, I focus on the process—starting with sketching and design, then moving into understanding stencil techniques, safety, and the art of tattooing itself.
Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical lesson starts with a brief review of previous work, followed by a demonstration or discussion of a new technique or concept. Students then apply these techniques with hands-on guidance, and we conclude with a feedback session, offering constructive critique and guidance on areas to focus on for the next lesson.
