About Jethro
I am an anthropology graduate and professional ballet dancer currently based in Los Angeles. I completed my MSc in Social and Cultural Anthropology at University College London in 2023, graduating with Distinction, after completing my BA in Dance Studies with First Class Honors in 2021.
As a dance teacher and academic tutor, I have experience working with students of different ages and levels. Together, our sessions will cover anthropological texts, essay-writing, as well as analyze case studies through ethnography and fieldwork. Whether you are preparing for an exam or looking for support with essays and research, I tailor my approach to each student’s interests and learning style.
For students with an interest in the performing arts, my background as a professional ballet dancer offers an additional perspective on how anthropological ideas can be applied to dance, performance, and the arts.

As a tutor, I introduce students to foundational anthropological texts while helping them think critically about complex theoretical ideas. My aim is to make anthropology approachable and relevant, while allowing students to develop their essay-writing, referencing, research and analytical skills. In my opinion, anthropology can be used to critically analyze almost anything! My goal is therefore to help students use anthropology as a way of engaging critically with their own interests and the world around them.
