About Rainer Matthew
I am a writer and teacher who struggled a lot getting through middle and high school. I actually dropped out and earned my GED, before going onto college. I have a BA in Political Science/History and an MS in International Relations, both from the University of New Mexico. School got progressively better for me as I moved through college. I still remember the feeling of every day being in high school and feeling frustrated and misunderstood. I work with students with this life experience strongly illustrating my approach.

I work to build the confidence of each student and use their strengths to lessen their weaknesses. I struggled and have overcome multiple learning disabilities, such as severe ADHD and Non-verbal learning disability. I use as many visual teaching aids as I can as well as constant engagement from the student. If we cannot completely learn in a combination of visual, audible and kinesthetic methods, we can certainly simulate it.
In addition, I will highlight that although I did not major in writing for my degrees, the written and spoken word has played a crucial part in my life since early childhood. I was often misunderstood by other children or I misunderstood them, but my language abilities were strong enough to allow me to retreat into this world. As a professional writer, I bring all of knowledge required to excel at any high school writing/reading requirement.
