About Julius
I am a North Carolina native and UNC-Chapel Hill alum (Go Tar Heels!) with a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.A. in Physics. Since graduation, I've been working as a pricing actuary in Philadelphia. If you're unfamiliar with the field, I use probability, statistics, and data analysis to develop specialty casualty/property insurance and reinsurance products for public entities. A few of my interests include gardening, lifting weights, reading, video games, and basketball. I fell in love with math when I was in middle school and have been obsessed ever since. It may sound cliché, but I've found it endlessly fascinating to predict the future using math! Now, I strive to be able to share/incite that same love for other people through my tutoring!

I can review solutions for homework, develop a lesson plan with examples, or simply explain concepts. I can cater to whatever my students need! I find that my students typically know what helps them learn best, but if not, we can find out together! My biggest goal for my students is for them to understand why what they're learning is important. Growing up, and really even to this day, the most common question I hear about math is "When am I ever going to use this?" This context is often missing from math classes, but with my students, I strive to answer this question and show them why math is so cool! This is why my lessons will include real-world examples, in-depth definitions, and multiple ways to understand a concept.
