I achieved a first in my maths degree having transferred my studies from Uni of Leicester to Open University post-covid. I have tutored online since 2021.

Harry provided weekly on-line A level Mathematics tuition for my grandson for approximately one year and, although I do not have any direct experience of being tutored by him, I often over heard sessions and received detailed weekly written reports about content and progress. I therefore feel able to recommend him to you.

Harry is extremely reliable and conscientious so the student knows he is going to 'sign in' to the session on time and give his full attention. He prepares carefully for each session and makes sure there is variety in content and approach. He appears to understand about different learning styles and adopts his sessions according to the student's needs. For instance, he quickly understood that the language of exam questions was causing problems and worked hard to explain the terminology.

My grandson did not find A level Mathematics easy and one of his problems was a lack of confidence about the approaching the different topics. Harry has a very friendly style and sensitive approach and never made my grandson feel silly for not knowing something. This helps boost confidence and makes new topics seem less daunting. He works through problems one-by-one and sees each session as a conversation with plenty of team work. I often overheard the session and could tell that my grandson felt relaxed and able to say when he was finding something difficult or he just didn't have a clue!

It seems helpful for parents or guardians to have information about each session so they know how things are going and can offer - even if they can't do the topics themselves! Harry is really brilliant at writing reports and providing weekly updates about progress. He includes information about progress and writes in a positive but honest way with helpful information about areas for development. My grandson and I found this was useful for planning revision and further study.

Harry was sensitive to the demands on an A level student and, as well as offering professional guidance, he was mindful of the importance of wellbeing and practical support. For instance, on the week before mock exams he provided two revision sessions and then gave 'downtime' on the actual week of the tests.

Harry is a thoughtful, diligent tutor and his work was helpful and worthwhile.
