About Mollie
I have always loved learning and had an interest in words, reading and languages. I enjoy writing and reading in my free time and studied English until A-Level before completing my degree in French and Italian at Durham University. I graduated in 2022 with a 2:1 and started working at a local college as an Academic Coach. In this position, I worked with BTEC and University students to support them with a wide variety of academic skills from proofreading to referencing.
I particularly enjoyed working with students on their writing skills, helping them with how to plan essays and create a coherent argument as well as how to write in an academic and formal style. Watching students grow and gain confidence in their writing skills inspired me and this is what I wish to achieve with my tutoring.
I believe everyone has the ability to write and has opinions that deserve to be expressed. By working with students to improve their reading and writing skills, I hope to share some of the joy I found in being able to write a strong argument about a piece of text and ultimately help students gain confidence in their own abilities to tackles exams and essays alike.

My teaching methodology is very flexible and based on the individual needs of each student. I enjoy getting to know my students and adapt my teaching to the areas they need support with and the methods that suit them the most. I offer a free 30 minute lesson to discuss how I can best support students and what they need from me. Overall, I want to share my passion for learning and English with students and help them feel more confident in their writing and reading comprehension skills.
Lessons may involve going over practice questions, planning essays, working through text together, looking at grammar, spelling and sentence structure or more. They will typically be an hour long, but I am happy to be flexible with this and discuss other options.
My Experience:
- Academic Coach: working with college and university students on a variety of academic skills, particularly essay writing.
- English and Maths Tutor: working with students aged 4-16 on maths, English language and literature
- English Language Assistant: teaching English as a foreign language in a French school.
