About Xingyi
Hi, I’m Xingyi, a passionate and friendly music student with formal ABRSM training and strong ensemble experience. I hold ABRSM Grade 8 in Music Theory (maximum grade) and ABRSM Grade 8 in Flute, and I also play flute, piano, guitar, and saxophone. I also have over 8 years of choir experience and more than 5 years of band experience, which helps me bring a well-rounded and practical approach to music learning. I believe that music lessons should feel comfortable, encouraging, and enjoyable, especially at the beginning. I am patient, approachable, and supportive, and I take time to understand each student’s goals and learning pace. Whether a student is completely new to music or already enjoys playing and wants to improve further, I aim to make lessons engaging while ensuring steady progress. My goal is to help students build confidence, enjoy the learning process, and develop strong musical foundations, while maintaining a professional and well-organized teaching style. I look forward to guiding students on their musical journey in a positive and motivating environment.

My teaching approach is supportive, structured, and highly encouraging, with a strong focus on beginners and early-stage learners, while also guiding music lovers who want to progress further. I aim to make lessons enjoyable and confidence-building, helping students develop a genuine love for music alongside solid technical skills.
For beginners, I place great importance on building strong foundations, including correct posture, technique, tone production, rhythm, and basic music reading. Lessons move at a comfortable pace, with clear explanations and plenty of encouragement, ensuring students feel motivated rather than overwhelmed. I believe a positive early learning experience is key to long-term musical growth.
For students with some prior experience, I help them refine technique, improve musical expression, develop effective practice habits, and strengthen musicianship. Lessons may include more challenging repertoire, sight-reading, basic interpretation, and applied music theory to support steady progression.
Across all levels, lessons combine technical exercises, enjoyable repertoire, practical music theory, and ear training, allowing students to understand music in a meaningful and practical way. I also guide students on how to practise efficiently at home, helping them make consistent progress between lessons.
Lesson Structure & Duration
Lessons typically last 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the student’s age, level, and goals. Shorter lessons are available for younger beginners, while longer sessions can be arranged for students who wish to advance more quickly.

I am a music student with ABRSM Grade 8 in Music Theory (maximum grade) and ABRSM Grade 8 in Flute. I teach flute, piano, guitar, and saxophone. I also have over 8 years of choir experience and more than 5 years of band experience, which allows me to support students in rhythm, ensemble awareness, and musical expression.
