About Karl
One of the most challenging study periods I've ever experienced was facing the Leaving Certificate. I believe the reason for this is that in the classroom, memorisation has taken priority above understanding. As a tutor, I want to eliminate the idea of spending hours staring at a complicated page of what looks to be an alien language in exchange for carefully walking through it to understand exactly what is happening.

I commence lessons, which can be anywhere from one to two hours depending on the student, by demonstrating how math in the classroom can relate to real-world situations so that everyone can truly understand why it is so important. My sessions are delivered online, where I write notes on a digital whiteboard, discuss the more interesting aspects of mathematics, and often listen to a student share their experiences and ask about topics that may not come up in class.
I have been teaching math for the past 4 years, and during that time I have worked with students at different levels and ages in secondary schools, however, the majority of my experience has been with Junior Cert, 5th Year, and Leaving Cert students. Long-term students of mine have experienced a considerable increase in their results, with some going from failing to achieving the highest rating.
