About Chiara
Hi! I would love to be your tutor. I have been teaching on and off since I was 14 (I’m now 21), and over the years I’ve discovered how much I genuinely enjoy helping others learn and grow. I’m currently a 4th-year Human Relations student at Concordia with a minor in TESL, and I’m also a classically trained pianist with 13 years of music theory training. I like to keep my lessons supportive and relaxed so students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building their skills over time.

My teaching approach focuses on creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. I adapt lessons to each student’s goals, level, and learning style, and I am happy to work with learners of any age, from beginners to more advanced students. My background in Human Relations, along with my TESL minor, has strengthened my communication and teaching skills, while my years of classical piano and music theory training allow me to support both technical development and musical understanding.
For English lessons, I like to begin with a short spoken check-in to help students practice conversational skills and build confidence. From there, we move into focused grammatical work and vocabulary development. We finish the lesson with an activity that connects what we have learned, such as a speaking exercise, reading passage, or short writing task.
For piano lessons, we start with scales and arpeggios to warm up and strengthen technique. We then move on to working on a piece chosen by the student or recommended based on their level and interests. During this time we will also explore elements of music theory and musical analysis so that students not only learn how to play the piece, but also understand the structure and ideas behind the music.
