About Charles
Hi there- I'm Charles, a final year English student at the University of York. I am a highly approachable, personable tutor and would look to meet the specific needs of whomever I work with.
After studying English Literature, Philosophy and Biology at Greenhead College and obtaining two A's and a B I moved on to the University of York. Since then my academic skills have gone from strength to strength and I am on track for a 1st class honours degree. I am hoping to write my dissertation on the ways in which the Anglo-Saxon conception of nature manifests in the poetry of that era. Alongside my experience in studying English at a high level, I have tutored secondary school students and family members for a long time as well as coaching a number of junior sports teams.

Charles helped me whilst at University to adapt to a more sophisticated writing style, using better language and making the jump between A-level style essays to a University standard. He was extremely patient with me throughout the process and I saw drastic improvements which I had not seen with past tutors. Thanks to him I was able to successfully argue my point of view across in a number of disciplines (inc. Philosophy and Politics) and write far more concise and clearly. I am very lucky and glad he helped me, and through his personable and engaging style I looked forward to every session we did.
