About João
I’m a 2nd-year Mechanical Engineering student with a passion for problem-solving and a goal to work in the steam power plants and/or renewable energy sector.
I achieved an A in A-Level Maths and an 8 in my Maths GCSE (a grade I am particularly proud of) as I secured it during my very first year adjusting to the UK education system. Because I know what it is like to face a steep learning curve, my main goal as a tutor is to help students stop seeing maths as a stressful burden. I want to show you that with the right approach, maths is just a logical and powerful tool that anyone can learn to use.
Outside of my engineering studies and tutoring, I like to keep active and creative. You can usually find me playing football, unwinding with table tennis, or playing music. I bring this same grounded, energetic approach to my lessons to ensure they are engaging and never tedious.

My teaching focuses on breaking down complex mathematical concepts into very simple and logical steps. As a mechanical engineering student, I use maths every single day to solve real-world problems, and I bring that practical mindset to my tutoring. I tailor my lessons entirely based on the student's current level and their specific exam board (Edexcel, AQA, or OCR).
